The Senior Congress leaders may have supported Indira Gandhi in the belief that her administrative and political inexperience would compel her to be dependent on them for support and guidance.

The Right to Information Bill was tabled in 2004 and received the Presidential assent in June, 2005.

Party based movements did not participate in elections formally. Yet they retained connections with political parties, as many participants in these movements, as individuals and as organisations, were actively associated with parties. These links ensured a better representation of the demands of diverse social sections in party politics.
