French Revolution introduced ideas of fatherland and citizen, notion of a united community, equal rights, constitution, new French tricolour as national flag, centralised administration, uniform laws and new uniform weights and measures system. The Estates-General became the National Assembly. Parisian French became the French national language.
The French declared their mission to liberate Europe from despotism. When news of these events reached rest of Europe, educated middle classes conducted activities and campaigns, preparing way for French armies, with nationalist ideas, into much of Western and Central Europe during 1790s.
